Art for Wellbeing

I’m facilitating a new 11 week course for adults at Llanover Hall.

This week, participants explored shapes and colour, beginning with the three primary colours, mixing to create new hues and tones and jotting down how each one made them feel. We spoke about the psychology of colour and its power to effect mood, and how artists use colour to evoke emotion and atmosphere in a work.

Experimenting with mixing colour and free writing, with inspiration from Goethe and Frida Kahlo.

After the break, I laid out a selection of postcards of artworks with strong colour and shapes. Participants chose one that they felt drawn to as inspiration for their own work. They moved from using poster paint to acrylics, working on paper and cardboard.
